WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College men's cross country team travels to Cedarville University for the 2018 Cedarville Friendship Invitational on Saturday.

The Race: The 8-kilometer race is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

The Teams: Wilmington will be joined by Bethel University (Indiana), Cedarville, Central State University, University of Dayton, Indiana University East, Miami University (Ohio), Morehead State University, Ohio Dominican University, Shawnee State University, Wilberforce University, Wright State University and West Virginia Tech.

The Coach: Ron Combs is in his 23rd season as head cross country coach at Wilmington College. A 1993 graduate of Wilmington, Combs was a member of the only cross country team to win a conference title in school history. Also the head track & field coach at the College, Combs led the Fightin' Quakers to two top-10 finishes nationally with a sixth place finish at the 2002 NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships and a seventh place mark at the 2004 Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The Runners: Evan Whitaker runs in his second collegiate meeting after winning his first one, a 5-kilometer race (16:34.6) at the Quaker Dual Meet on Aug. 31. Hunter Stith (17:11.1) and Cameron Phelps (17:11.9) finished fourth and fifth respectively. Gage Clemens (17:28.7) and Austin Wampler (17:41.6) were the next two Fightin' Quakers to finish, doing so in ninth and 13th respectively.
