Beavers Posts Season-High Saves in Loss to Marietta

*Story by Andy Riesenberg

WILMINGTON, Ohio – Despite a season high number of saves, the Wilmington College men's lacrosse team fell at home to Marietta 22-2 on Saturday.

Reed Beavers, the goalkeeper for the Fightin' Quakers, posted a season high number of saves with 18, just two short of his career high of 20 saves he recorded back in 2019 against Muskingum University. Garrett Murrell  and Jonathan Lokey both scored goals in the second half, but it was too late as Marietta was ahead 13-0 at halftime.

The Pioneers' Connor Ficke and Logan Podgorski led the way with a total of seven goals and five assists, followed by five others scoring at least twice as Marietta outshot the Quakers 47-13.

Wilmington (0-6) will start the second half of the season next Saturday at Capital University in Columbus. First faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
