WILMINGTON, Ohio – Wilmington College seniors Mackenzie Campbell and Niklas Martensson will receive the Ohio Athletic Conference's (OAC) Clyde Lamb Award at a ceremony in Columbus on May 13.
The Clyde Lamb Award, established in 1985 and named after the longtime Ohio Northern University coach, is awarded to individuals who have at least two years participation in an OAC-sponsored sport, senior status, a minimum grade point average of 3.00 and sportsmanlike conduct in a manner that has brought credit to the student-athlete and his or her institution.
Campbell, a four-year member of the women's basketball program, carries a 3.99 GPA in the College's exercise science program. She has been a member of the Dean's list and Academic All-OAC all four years as well as earning CoSIDA Academic All-District honors twice in her career. This year, Campbell is the top student in the exercise science program.
Athletically, Mackenzie was one of the more decorated players in Lady Quaker Basketball history. A winner of four All-OAC awards (Freshman of the Year, First Team and two-time Second Team). she finished ninth in program history in scoring (1,375 points) despite missing nine games due to injury this season. A two-time team captain, Campbell led Wilmington in scoring in both her sophomore and junior seasons along with guiding the Quakers to an OAC Tournament runner-up finish in 2017.
Martensson, a four-year member of the men's soccer program, carries a 3.36 GPA and is a double major in sport management and business administration. He earned First Team Academic All-Ohio as well as being on the dean's list as a senior.
Athletically, Niklas was one of the most decorated men's soccer players in the NCAA era (1991-present) having scored 36 goals and tallying 98 points in his career. A two-time All-OAC selection including First Team honors as a senior, Martensson was among top individuals in the league in scoring with 16 goals and points with 37. His 2018 season marked a top-five individual offensive season in the last two decades.
