Women's Soccer Places Six on College Sports Communicators All-District Team

WOMEN'S SOCCER ALL-DISTRICT TEAM

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's soccer team had six individuals earn Academic All-District honors as the College Sports Communications (formerly known as CoSIDA) announced the honorees on Tuesday, Nov. 15. 

Heidi Edens, Haley Fulton, Lauren Galloway, Elizabeth Matthews, Ema Menges and Maddie Scott garnered Academic All-District honors and will be on the ballot for a chance at becoming an Academic All-American. In order to qualify for nomination for Academic All-District, student-athletes must meet the following qualifications:

  • Sophomore athletically or higher
  • 3.50 cumulative grade point average or higher
  • Been enrolled at the institution for at least one calendar year
  • Starter or key reserve

Edens, a senior agriculture major from Middletown, started in 17 games for the Quakers and scored goals in victories over Marietta College and Muskingum University. She fired 31 shots with over half of them being on net.

Fulton, a junior biology major from Cincinnati, started every game as a member of the WC back line, which allowed just 1.06 goals per game. A Third Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) selection, Fulton also assisted on the Quakers' goal in a narrow defeat to Baldwin Wallace University.

Matthews, a senior biology major from Centerville, appeared in every game and started all but one as a midfielder. She was one was of four Quakers to notch double-digits in points, scoring five goals and dishing out for assists on the season.

Galloway, a senior accounting & business administration double major from Beavercreek, has been a four-year starter for WC in net. The multiple time All-OAC honoree including Third Team recognition this season started 17 of a possible 18 games in net and made 64 saves on the season. Galloway concluded her career with 388 saves, the most in program history. 

Menges, a junior education major from Dayton, appeared in every game with four starts. She scored her lone goal of the season in Wilmington's 6-1 victory over Muskingum on Oct. 26.

Scott, a senior exercise science major from Centerville, appeared in every game with 11 starts. She was one of four Quakers to produce 10-plus points as Scott scored five goals and dished out three assists on the season.

Wilmington, under the direction of first-year Head Coach Nick Kinder, finished its 2022 campaign with a 10-8-0 overall record including a 4-5-0 mark in OAC contests.
