WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College softball team continues its Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) slate with a pair of twinbills to close this weekend and begin the next. The Fightin' Quakers will host John Carroll University for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. on Sunday and Marietta College for two games beginning at 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Teams: Wilmington, John Carroll and Marietta. The Quakers enter the weekend with an 8-6 overall record and an even 2-2 OAC mark after splitting a pair of games at league-leader Ohio Northern University on Tuesday. The Blue Streaks are 8-6-1 on the season having recently split a pair of games with Muskingum University on Tuesday. The Pioneers are 9-11 overall and 3-3 in conference games having recently split with Otterbein University. Marietta hosts Kenyon College on Sunday.

The Coaches: Beth Floyd is in her 15th season as Wilmington's softball head coach. She is the winningest softball coach in school history and also heads the College's coaching minor. Floyd has led the Quakers to the program's first winning season with a 20-16 record in 2013. Nicole Loudin, formerly a student-athlete at fellow OAC school Baldwin Wallace University, is in her ninth season as JCU's head coach. She's led the Blue Streaks to over 120 victories during her tenure. Jenn Castle, after serving as the program's top assistant coach from 2010-17, begins her fourth year as Marietta's head coach. 

The Hitters: A quartet of Quakers - Lindsey Carter, Hayley Suchland, Mollie Moore and Judaea Wilson - hit over a .400 clip for the season with Carter leading the way with a .467 average. She's also driven in a team-best dozen runs, tied with Arianna Layne. Suchland, who is joined by Claire Scully, Arianna Layne and Bailey Hypes as the Quakers that have hit home runs, has swiped a team-best six stolen bases. Kasyn Scarantine leads in several offensive categories including: batting average (.483) and triples (2). Crista Nativio and Mallory Stonebraker have both drive in 10 runs. Rachel Mazmirski and Jillian Middleton both hit over the .400 mark for Marietta. Both have also drive in 20 runs while Jess Brown has stolen 21 bases on the year.

The Pitchers: A trio of Quakers - Alexis Stringfellow, Izzy Rothrock and Carter - have pitched over 75 of the team's 91 innings in the circle. All three have ERAs under 4.00 while Rothrock had struckout a team-best 18 batters. Stringfellow, once named OAC Pitcher of the Week, has three victories on the year. Brianna Callow is one of three Blue Streaks to pitch over 20 innings. She carries a team-best 3.50 ERA with 20 strikeouts. Middletown has pitched 71 of the Pioneers' 129.1 innings and carries a 3.94 ERA with 58 strikeouts.

Strike Out Cancer: For the Marietta contest, Wilmington will be sporting pink articles of clothing as part of the OAC's "Strike Out Cancer" weekend. Donations are appreciated.
