CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The Wilmington College men's cross country team finished 19th place at the annual All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championships hosted by Cedarville University on Saturday.

The Fightin' Quakers also placed 10th among NCAA Division III schools. Both are improvements from a season ago.

"The conditions were really tough today with the heat and humility," Head Men's Cross Country Coach Ron Combs said. "Simon [Heys] earned All-Ohio recognition for finishing top 20 individually, which is solid for a freshman. We have to work on being stronger mentally when things aren't perfect for us as a team."

Freshman Simon Heys, a Wilmington High School alumnus, was the Quakers' top finisher, crossing the finish line of the eight-kilometer course in 26:57.9. Wilmington's next two finishers – Taton Bertsch and Ryan Honkomp – placed 113th (28:05.5) and 115th (28:07.0) respectively.

Andre Bollam-Godbott, from the University of Akron, won the meet individually with a time of 25:05.8. Otterbein University's Chase Hampton, who finished runner-up overall, was the top NCAA Division III finisher with a time of 25:13.1.

Wilmington rounded out its top five finishers with Evan Whitaker and Josh Cyrus. Whitaker, the reigning Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Freshman of the Year, placed 128th with a time of 28:21.6 while Cyrus clocked a finish of 28:29.4.

The Quakers return home to host the JennaStrong Fall Classic on Friday, Oct. 11.
