DMR Wins at Joe Banks Invitational, Men's Track & Field Sixth

RESULTS

ADA, Ohio – The Wilmington College men's track and field team finished in sixth place out of 14 teams at the Joe Banks Invitational hosted by Ohio Northern University on Saturday.

Overall, the Fightin' Quakers had 10 performances that scored points. In track events, three individuals score in jumps including two in the high jump. Anthony Gilmore (6' 2") and Jeff Clydesdale (6' 0") placed sixth and eighth respectively in the event while Max Queen's leap of 20' 9 ¾" earned him a sixth-place finish in the long jump. In throws, Blake Jamison placed fourth in the shot put (44' 4 ¼") and Joe Shuga took ninth in the weight throw (46' 4 ¼"). Shuga scored for the team as an unattached individual finished ahead of him.

In track events, Simon Heys earned a runner-up finish in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:35.37, the sixth-fastest in the event in program history. Evan Whitaker scored a fifth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run (15:39.66) and Taton Bertsch crossed the finish line in 2:01.47 in the 800-meter run.

Two Wilmington relay squads scored including the distance medley relay team of Bertsch, Aaron Koch, Josh Cyrus and Heys beat the entire field by over 25 seconds with a time of 10:47.66. The 4-x-400-meter relay team of Koch, Queen, Bertsch and Clydesdale finished sixth with a time of 3:42.28.

The Quakers return to action on Friday at the Cedarville Indoor Invitational.
