Men's Soccer Hosts Baldwin Wallace in Conference Play

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's soccer team will host Baldwin Wallace University on Saturday at 7 p.m. for Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) competition.

The Teams: Wilmington and Baldwin Wallace, the Fightin' Quakers are 10-4-2, 3-2-1 OAC after a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Otterbein University on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets are 9-8-0, 2-4-0 OAC after falling to John Carroll University 4-1 on Wednesday. 

The Coaches: Alex Van der Sluijs is in his second year leading Wilmington's men's soccer team. The 2007 alumnus, who was a three-time First Team All-OAC selection and a member of the program's only team to win an OAC title in 2004, worked at Defiance College for seven seasons. Reid Ayers is in his 18th season as the Head Men's Soccer Coach at Baldwin Wallace.  During his tenure at BW, Ayers has won more than 300 games and is the schools all-time winningest coach in both men's and women's soccer.

The Players: Ian Molfenter leads the Quakers in goals with nine while also dishing out one assist. Zach Burgmeier leads Wilmington in assists with five and he has also scored seven goals of his own. Felix Maurer is the go to goalkeeper for the Quakers with 46 saves and four shutouts. Danny Ruple leads the Yellow Jackets in goals with 17 he has also recorded four assists.

Series History: The Quakers are 15-5-3 against the Yellow Jackets since 1999, WIlmington won the last meeting in 2018 4-1. 

Conference Standings: The Quakers are currently fifth in the OAC standings with three games left to play. With a win they will take a big step toward a berth into the six team conference playoffs.
