Men's Basketball Hosts JCU for Senior Day and Regular Season Finale

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's basketball team hosts John Carroll University for a regular season finale at Hermann Court on Saturday. The OAC Athletic Conference (OAC) contest, which is also Senior Day for Wilmington, is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and John Carroll (JCU). The Fightin' Quakers are 10-14 overall and 8-9 in OAC competition after an 86-76 loss at Capital University on Wednesday evening. The Blue Streaks are 16-8 overall and 9-8 in conference play after dispatching Otterbein University 88-67 on Wednesday.

The Coaches: K.C. Hunt is in his 13th season as head coach of Wilmington's men's basketball program. Hunt, who has coached two All-Americans and seven of the school's 1,000-point scorers, led the Quakers to OAC Tournament titles in 2010 and 2014. He garnered Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year honors for guiding Wilmington to OAC Tournament title and a win in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2010. Pete Moran, a 2008 graduate of JCU, is in his third season as the Blue Streaks' head coach. He led his alma mater to a "Sweet 16" berth in his first season.

The Players: Jeffery Manfield leads the Quakers both in scoring (19.4 points per game) and rebounding (4.7 boards per contest) while DaeShawn Jackson, Abdul Kanu and Colin Myers also score in double figures. These four Wilmington individuals all grab over four rebounds per 40 minutes and combine to score 75 percent of the team's offense. Payton Smith dishes out four assists per game. The Berger brothers – Ryan and Jimmy – both score in double figures for JCU along with Jackson Sartain. Jimmy Berger is the squad's leading rebounder at 6.5 boards per game while Sean Flannery dishes out over five assists per game.

Tale of the Tape: Points per game – Wilmington 76.3, JCU 86.0; opponents' points per game – Wilmington 79.0, JCU 78.0; field goal percentage – Wilmington 44.1, JCU 46.7; three-point percentage – Wilmington 31.5, JCU 39.2; free throw percentage – Wilmington 67.9, JCU 69.6; rebounds per game – Wilmington 31.3, JCU 37.3; assist-to-turnover ratio – Wilmington 1.08, JCU, 1.20.

Senior Day: This contest marks the final regular season home game for four seniors. A brief ceremony for Payton Smith, DaeShawn Jackson, Aaron Mullins and Colin Myers will be held prior to the game.
