WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College football team heads to Ohio Northern University for the 2022 season finale on Saturday. Kickoff from Ada, Ohio, is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Ohio Northern (ONU). The Quakers are 3-6 on the season and 2-6 in conference games after a 27-13 defeat at the hands of Muskingum University last weekend. The Polar Bears are 2-7 and 2-6 in OAC contests, but are coming off of a 42-7 triumph at Otterbein University last Saturday. 

The Coaches: Corey Fillipovich, who has served as Wilmington's defensive coordinator for the previous four seasons, enters his first full season as head coach in 2022. The former OAC Assistant Coach of the Year, he stepped in to lead the program through the final four games of the 2021 fall campaign which included consecutive victories over Capital University and Otterbein University to end the season. Dean Paul is in his 19th season as ONU's head football coach. He's led the Polar Bears to 116 victories during his tenure. 

The Offenses: Adam Dixon averages 210.6 yards passing per game to go along with 16 touchdowns for the Wilmington offense. Ace Taylor has hauled in 44 receptions while Lathan Jones has 550 yards receiving. Fifth-year senior Itika Wynn Jr. has grabbed a team-best six touchdown passes. On the ground, Ben Hobbs has carried 101 times for 416 yards. Aidan Figueroa and Trevor McConnell have split the quarterback duties for the Polar Bears as the duo as combined for over 1,300 yards with 10 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Brock Martin has amassed 477 yards on the ground. 

The Defenses: Jarod Lee and Zac Schmidt, two alums of Eaton High School, lead the Quaker defense by combining for 168 tackles. Schmidt leads the squad in tackles for loss with 7.5 and is one of six Quakers to tally an interception. Cornerback Quentin Davis has broken up 10 passes on the season. Dalton Tjong has an even 100 tackles for his sophomore season for an average of 11.1 per contest to go along with three interceptions. Josh Bever leads the ONU defense in tackles for loss with 10.5.

Tale of the Tape: Points per game – Wilmington 17.0, ONU 15.7, points per game allowed – Wilmington 37.4, ONU 25.2, yards per game – Wilmington 306.3, ONU 269.7, yards per game allowed – Wilmington 411.7, ONU 309.8, passing yards per game – Wilmington 216.9, ONU 160.2, passing yards per game allowed – Wilmington 207.7, ONU 180.3, rushing yards per game – Wilmington 89.4, ONU 109.4, rushing yards per game allowed – Wilmington 204.0, ONU 129.4.
