Women's XC finishes second

FRANKLIN, IN – Senior Tricia Steffen finished fourth overall as the Wilmington College women's cross country team finished second at Franklin College's Sodexo Classic.

The host Grizzlies won the event with 44 points, followed by Wilmington (78), Thomas More (80), Vincennes (84), Spalding (101), Earlham (123) and St. Mary's (176).

"I'm excited with the result," said Wilmington head coach Ron Combs. "For the girls to get second is a great result for us, especially being a very young, very inexperience team."

Steffen (Baltimore, OH/Liberty Union) finished the course in 19:40.40 and freshman Christina Paskow (Felicity, OH/Felicity-Franklin) finished 14th with the time of 21:22.04.

"Tricia is a good leader for us," said Combs. "She is going to be there for us at the end of the season. She is just building."

The rest of the runners were tightly packed to help the Fightin' Quakers finished second overall.

Junior Mary Krebs (Kettering, OH/Alter) finished 18th in 21:46.38, freshman Kylie Watson (Georgetown, OH/Georgetown) was 20th in 21:52.65 and senior Veronica Burnam (New Richmond, OH/New Richmond) rounded out the scoring, placing 22nd in 21:58.70.

Wilmington returns to the course Friday, competing in the Queen City Invitational at Kingswood Park in Mason.
