WC gets off to fast start in OAC loss

The Wilmington volleyball team got off to sizzling start Saturday, claiming the first game, 25-21, but it was downhill from there as Muskingum swept the three remaining games to claim the 21-25, 25-7, 25-14, 25-14 Ohio Athletic Conference win.

Wilmington recorded 13 kills in the opening match, while .323 with just three errors in 31 attempts. However, they had negative hitting percentages in the second and fourth matches.

Sophomore Tabby Biegler had a fantastic performance 12 kills with just two errors on 28 attempts. Junior Natalie Sparks and freshman Catlin Pauley added five kills each. Sophomore Ariana Neff continued to distribute the offense with 22 of the 29 of the team's assists.

Defensively, the Fightin' Quakers improved its performance at the net with a season-high 10 blocks. Pauley and Sparks each recorded a block solo and two block assists.

Freshman Meghan Bruns led the team with 10 digs, while Beigler registered nine digs.

Wilmington (0-13 overall, 0-3 OAC) steps out of OAC action Tuesday, hosting Ohio Christian.
