Volleyball falls to OWU

DELAWARE – The Wilmington College volleyball team opened the season by falling in straight sets to Ohio Wesleyan, 25-20, 25-11, 25-20.

"We played well in the first and third sets," said head coach Beth Floyd. "I thought in the second set we were trying not to make mistakes. We played very hard today. I was very pleased with how aggressive we played today. We moved the ball around a lot and our effort was outstanding."

Sophomore Tabby Biegler (Columbus, OH/Briggs) led the way with 15 kills in 28 attempts, while juniors Natalie Sparks (West Jefferson, OH/West Jefferson) and Ashley Miller (Arcanum, OH/Franklin Monroe) added seven kills.

"Tabby played amazing all the way around," said Floyd. "We were really aggressive in the front and back rows."

Sophomore Ariana Neff (Naples, FL/Gulf Coast) distributed 29 of the team's 32 assists.

Wilmington (0-1) will play Earlham and Grove City Saturday at Ohio Wesleyan.
