Dorsett claims only event victory

BEXLEY – Sophomore Angela Dorsett recorded Wilmington's only victory Saturday as the women's track and field team finished sixth of eight teams at the Capital Classic Saturday. Inclement weather forced several teams to drop out.

Dorsett (Pittsburg, PA/West Mifflin) won the triple jump (9.84 meters) and added a third-place finish in the 60 (8.61).

"We had a good weekend with the OSU and Capital meets," said Wilmington head coach Ron Combs. "It's been a tough week training-wise because of the weather."

Junior Marissa Bolen (Gibsonburg, OH/Gibsonburg) placed second in the shot put (12.54) and fifth in the weight throw (13.46), while sophomore Lauren Stacy (Bethel, OH/Western Brown) was third in the weight throw (15.27) and sixth in the shot put (11.03).

Wilmington continued to rack up points in the field events as freshman Tara Karnes (Greenfield, OH/McClain) was third in the shot put (11.99) and freshman Megan Darst (Grove City, OH/Grove City) was sixth in the shot put (11.18).

Freshman Elizabeth Davis (Springfield, OH/Northeastern) added a fourth-place finish in the 400 (1:07.23).

Wilmington will compete in the Ohio Athletic Conference meet Friday and Saturday at Capital University.
