Bolen, Kilgo set school records

WESTERVILLE – Junior Marissa Bolen and senior Derek Kilgo each established school records as the Wilmington College track and field teams competed in the All-Ohio indoor track championships.

The men's team finished eighth of 18 teams, while the women's team was 12th of 19 teams.

Bolen (Gibsonburg, OH/Gibsonburg) won the shot put with a school record distance of 13.4 meters. It was the only event victory for the women's team. Kilgo (Charlotte, NC/North Royalton) won the 60 meter dash with a school record time of 6.96 seconds, bringing home the only event victory for the men's team.

Sophomore Lauren Stacy (Bethel, OH/Western Brown) scored in two events for the Fightin' Quakers. She was second in the weight throw (15.59 meters) and was seventh in the shot put (12.26 meters). The only other athlete to score for the women's team was senior Tricia Steffen (Baltimore, OH/Liberty Union), who was eighth in the 3000 meter run (10:46.86).

Senior Jake Simpkins (Germantown, OH/Valley View) added a fourth place finish in the 800 (1:57.32), and senior Jake Sydnor (Owensville, OH/Clermont Northeastern) brought home a fifth-place finish in the 400 (50.91).

The quartet of Kilgo, Simpkins, Sydnor and freshman Pierce Burnam (New Richmond, OH/New Richmond) finished third in the 4x400 relay with the time of 3:27.91. Sophomore Zak Kruer (Miamisburg, OH/Miamisburg) wrapped up Wilmington's scoring with a seventh place finish in the pole vault (4.48 meters).

Wilmington will compete at the Rick Meindl Invitational Saturday at Capital University.
