Women's Swimming gets first win

The Wilmington College women's swimming team earned its first victory of the season, beating Hiram Saturday 126-59 at the Wilmington College Natatorium.

"I was pleased with results today," said Wilmington head coach Trip Breen. "For both teams to win today, it was exciting. We still have a lot of room for improvement. The end of the semester and the training is starting to weigh on them, and we are still racing well. I am looking for to Ohio Wesleyan next week."

Senior Addie Roberts (Franklin, OH/Franklin) won the 800 meter freestyle (10:26.34) and the 400 meter freestyle (5:02.73), while also swimming the fastest leg in the 400 meter freestyle relay (1:07.42). Roberts has adjusted well to changes in her training schedule due to her senior athletic training commitments, said Breen.

Junior Rachel Routzong (Urbana, OH/Urbana) swam well in her events. She won the 100 meter butterfly (1:16.38) and was second in the 200 meter freestyle (2:28.91). Breen also pointed out strong performances by junior Rachel Drake (Fairfield, OH/Fairfield). She won the 100 meter breaststroke (1:23.92) and was on the winning 200 meter medley relay team of Kathryn Spitznogle (Waynesville, OH/Waynesville), Colleen Rueppel (Weybridge, VT / Manheim (PA)) and Samantha Glish (Louisville, KY/Ballard). The quartet finished the distance in 2:17.58.

Junior Lydia Wolcott (Miamisburg, OH/Bishop Fenwick) won the 400 meter individual medley with time of 6:00.09.
