Women's Soccer streak comes to end

MANCHESTER, IN – The Wilmington College women's soccer team had its six-game winning streak come to an end as they fell to Manchester Saturday, 4-1, in non-conference action. It was the final tune-up before the Fightin' Quakers stepped into Ohio Athletic Conference action.

Wilmington falls to 6-4 on the season, while Manchester improves to 3-6.

Playing without starting goalkeeper Taylor Franklin (Delaware, OH/Rutherford B. Hayes), Wilmington tied a season-high with four goals allowed. Freshman Ana Hosler (Blanchester, OH/Blanchester) made one save on five shots.

Manchester scored just 63 seconds into the contest for the only goal of the first half.

Junior Angela Phillips (Union, OH/Northmont) pulled Wilmington even in the 53rd minute with freshman Alexis Bailey (Middletown, OH/Middletown) recording the assist.

However, the Spartans answered in the 70th and 71st minute to take a two-goal lead, and then capped the scoring in the 81st minute.

Wilmington opens OAC action 1 p.m. Saturday at Marietta.
