Women's Soccer earns NSCAA Ethics Award

KANSAS CITY, KS – The Wilmington College women's soccer team has been awarded the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) College Team Ethics and Sportsmanship award for the 2013 season, the organization announced today.

"The women's soccer program is proud of the fact that we can be successful in matches, be aggressive, play physical, and still compete with sportsmanship and high team ethics," said Wilmington head coach Steve Spirk. "We are honored to receive this National award."

The Fightin' Quakers was one of 159 teams nationally to earn the Silver Award, which is given to teams that accumulate no red cards and a maximum of five yellow cards. Wilmington received just three yellow cards this season.

Four teams in the Ohio Athletic Conference, and 19 Ohio teams, earned the Ethics Award for the 2013 season.

Wilmington finished the season 11-7, and missed the OAC tournament by losing the tiebreaker to Mount Union.
