Shelton scores only goal

Senior Paij Shelton scored Wilmington's only goal Saturday as the Fightin' Quakers fell to Baldwin Wallace, 3-1, in a key Ohio Athletic Conference match.

Both teams were tied with Mount Union at 3-1 for the top spot in the league midway through conference action.

Shelton was able to avert the shutout by beating the BW keeper to the lower left corner in the game's 82nd minute.

It was just the third time this season Wilmington managed less than 10 shots for the game, finishing with eight. Sophomore Erika Good led the team with three shots, while five other players had one shot each.

Baldwin Wallace scored twice in a nine-minute span, tallying goals in the 31st and 39th minute, to take a 2-0 lead into the halftime. The Yellow Jackets added a third goal less than five minutes into the second half.

Wilmington (9-5-1 overall, 3-2 OAC) faces Otterbein 7 p.m. Tuesday in its next to last home game of the season.
