The Wilmington College women's soccer team took advantage of a corner kick in each half to snap its two-game losing streak by beating Manchester, 2-1, Saturday in non-conference action at Charlie Gilhart Field.

As per their norm, the Fightin' Quakers unleashed its fair number of shots. Wilmington outshot the Spartans, 20-4, marking the third consecutive game it held the opponent to less than five shots.

Seniors Sammy Koerner and Rachel Gutowski combined for the game's first goal. After barely missing on a corner kick conversion earlier, Koerner found the back of the net in the 28th minute following a Gutowski serve on the corner.

Manchester was able to gain the equalizer in the 52nd minute on an unassisted goal.

Wilmington found corner kicks to its liking again in the 62nd minute. This time Gutowski's corner caused confusion in the front of the net, and senior Jenni Marck deposited the ball past the MU goalkeeper for the game-winning goal.

Junior Taylor Franklin recorded two saves to earn her third victory of the season.

The Quakers (6-3-1) kicks off Ohio Athletic Conference action 4:30 p.m. Saturday by traveling to Muskingum.
