KANSAS CITY, KS – The Wilmington College women's soccer team was one of 737 collegiate teams nationally in all divisions to earn the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NCSAA) team academic award for the 2011-12 academic year.

It marks the 16th consecutive year in the awards 17-year existence Wilmington earned the academic distinction.

"We expect to be as successful in the classroom as we are on the soccer field," said head coach Steve Spirk. "We have received this award every year since 1997. We have student athletes that have gone on to become doctors, lawyers, business owners, teachers, coaches, Athletic trainers, biologists and many other professions. Our goal here at Wilmington College is to prepare them for their career and provide a great soccer experience."

Wilmington finished the season with cumulative 3.04 GPA, led by the 3.94 earned by junior Bonnie Grace (Wyoming, OH/Wyoming). The women's soccer team led the WC campus with five players to earn the Fall Academic Award from the Ohio Athletic Conference.

On the field, Wilmington finished over .500 for the first time since 2009 with a 12-7-1 record. The 12 victories were the most by the Lady Quakers since they recorded 15 in 2008. The qualified for the OAC tournament for the seventh straight year.
