Watters named third team All-Region

KANSAS CITY, KS – The National Soccer Coaches Association of American has released their all-region teams, and Wilmington senior Sarah Watters was included.

Watters (Cincinnati, OH/Turpin) was named third team All-Great Lakes Region. She was a second team Ohio Athletic Conference selected for the second straight season.

"Sarah Watters had a big season for our program and for herself this year," said Wilmington head coach Steve Spirk. "Along with winning the Golden Boot (top scorer), (she was) voted MVP by her teammates, and now All-Region. By far this has been her best season and a great way to close out her career."

For the second consecutive year, she led the Lady Quakers in goals and points. With the six goals this season, she finishes her WC career with 16 goals. Her three assists were tied for second best on the team. Watters added two game-winning goals this season.

Wilmington opened the season with seven straight games without a loss and sets school record with six consecutive shutouts to start the season. The Lady Quakers fell to eventual champion Ohio Northern in the quarterfinals of the OAC tournament and finished 12-7-1.
