ALMA, MI – Senior Sammy Koerner found the back of the net three times Wednesday as the Wilmington College women's lacrosse team fell to Alma, 21-3, in non-conference action.
Koerner (Fairfield, OH/Badin) scored twice in the first half, and added a short-handed goal in the second half. She scored the goals on just five shots.
Alma scored less than a minute into the contest, and scored the first six markers of the season before Koerner scored at the 23:58 mark. She scored again at 13:22 to make the score 10-2. Senior Rachel Gutowski (Petoskey, MI/Petoskey) launched five shots, and freshman Kiki Hall (Westerville, OH/Central) had two shots.
Sophomore Katie Bennett (Newport, OH/Frontier) finished the game with 13 saves.
Wilmington (0-2) returns home to play Ursuline 4 p.m. Sunday at Williams Stadium.
