Monnier honored by Women's Sports Association

CINCINNATI – Wilmington College graduate Danielle Monnier was honored Monday by the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Women's Sports Association during their banquet at the Cintas Center on the campus of Xavier University.

Monnier was named the Collegiate Sportswoman of the Year for softball, making her one of nine finalists for the Collegiate Sportswoman of the Year award.

"It's an honor to be selected as the best collegiate softball player in the Greater Cincinnati area," said Monnier. "I would like to extend my congratulations to all of the winners."

She holds every pitching record - career and single-season - on the Wilmington College record book. Monnier was named the 2013 Ohio Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year, and is a two-time All-OAC honoree.

"Danielle is an amazing athlete and more importantly, an amazing young lady," said Wilmington head coach Beth Floyd. "I'm extremely proud of Danielle, and she had a tremendous impact on our program."

Monnier is currently teaching and coaching in the Sidney School district.

The banquet also recognized all of Wilmington's all-conference winners, athletic and academic, during the 2014 spring, 2014 fall and 2014-15 winter seasons.
