Shilling moves to All-American ballot, Monnier earns third-team laurels

LOUISVILLE, KY – Two Wilmington College softball players were named all-Central Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Saturday.

Senior Catlin Shilling (Waverly, OH/Waverly) was named first-team utility player, while senior pitcher Danielle Monnier (Houston, OH/Houston) earned third team. Shilling, who split time between third base and shortstop, moves to the All-American ballot.

Shilling spent the early part of the season at third base, but spent the majority of her time at shortstop once Wilmington entered conference action. Due to all the time in OAC action at shortstop, Shilling earned first-team All-OAC as a shortstop.

Wilmington's power source in the last two years, she concluded her career as the school's all-time leader in doubles (37), homeruns (24) and RBI (86). Shilling also holds single-season records in batting average (.482) and homeruns (10). Her 53 hits this season were the second-most in any season.

Monnier, the OAC Pitcher of the Year, led the OAC in earned run average (2.24) and strikeouts 142, and was tied for second in the league with 13 victories. The win total established a new single-season record for Wilmington, and Monnier leaves as the school's all-time leader in that category as well. She also holds the top three single-season strikeout performances en route to establishing a new career record as well.
