Men's XC finishes 29th at regionals

MASON, OH – The Wilmington College men's cross country team placed 29th of 37 teams at the 2014 Division III Men's Cross Country Great Lakes Regionals Saturday at the Golf Center at Kings Island.

"Our men's team struggled today," said Wilmington head coach Ron Combs. "We haven't been able to put it together at the same time all season, and unfortunately, that theme continued today. We are very young and the older guys have not been in many big races this year and it shows. I thought Jakes ran really well. Jake being in the 25's is a great accomplishment. He's a warrior, he really competes hard."

Senior Jake Simpkins (Germantown, OH/Valley View) was the first Wilmington runner to complete the 8K course, finishing 67th with a time of 25:38.3. Freshman Hunter Stith (Batavia, OH/Batavia) was the next WC harrier to finish, placing 155th in the time of 27:14.9, while his twin Griffin Stith (Batavia, OH/Batavia) was 169th with the time of 27:30.5

Rounding out Wilmington's scoring was senior Scott Blubaugh (Kingston, OH/Logan Elm), 192nd in 27:59.4, and senior Tyler Ahle (Bellefontaine, OH/Benjamin Logan), 199th in 28:16.1.
