ALLIANCE – Behind the strength of earning all-conference laurels in 10 different events, the Wilmington College men's track team finished third in the Ohio Athletic Conference outdoor champions. The men's coaching staff was named OAC Staff of the Year for their performance.

"I am really impressed with what (the men) did," said head coach Ron Combs. "We brought the smallest team, and it left no margin for error. I am just proud of the kids."

Tyler Caudill (Jamestown, OH/Greeneview) was the highest decorated WC athlete, earning All-OAC in three different events. He finished second in both the 110 hurdles and the 400 hurdles. Caudill finished the 110 in 15.28 seconds, and the 400 in 53.87 seconds. Due to a couple injuries, he stepped into the 4x400 relay that finished third. He was joined by Jake Sydnor (Batavia, OH/Clermont Northeastern), Nate Godby (Goshen, OH/Goshen) and Jake Simpkins (Germantown, OH/Valley View).

Caudill wasn't the only athlete to claim all-conference honors in multiple individual events as Mason Metts (Pomeroy, OH/Meigs) was second in the shot put and hammer. On his final toss, Metts claimed second place in the shot put with a distance of 50-08.75.

Unlike the shot put, when his final throw helped him, it was the next to last throw in the hammer that knocked him out of first place. His fourth throw of 180-04 was standing up as the winner before the Mount Union thrower launched one 184-10 to win the event.

Coming into the high jump unbeaten on the outdoor season, Christian Patterson (Cincinnati, OH/Norwood) was a favorite to claim the OAC title in the event. However, one miss at an earlier distance cost him the championship as both jumpers cleared the distance at 6-08.75. The field events remained kind to the Quakers as Leevi Stump (Mount Vernon, OH/Mount Vernon) was second in the triple jump with a distance of 44-03.25.

Alek Erwin (Springfield, OH/Northeastern) established a new school record in the 1,500, and finished second in the event with a time of 3:58.80.

The Wilmington haul was concluded with third place finishes in the 4x100 relay and the 4x800 relay. The quartet of Derek Kilgo (Charlotte, NC/Royalton), Stump, Godby and Sydnor finished the 4x100 in 42.87. In the 4x800, Simpkins, Erwin, Brad Kline (Circleville, OH/Circleville) and Tony Goodrich (Bethel, OH/New Richmond) finished with a time of 7:51.04 in setting a new school record.

Jenna Parlette (Miamisburg, OH/Miamisburg) and Marissa Bolen (Gibsonburg, OH/Gibsonburg) brought home All-OAC honors for the women's team as they finished eighth.

"For the women to score 50 points, I thought they did great," said Combs. "Obviously, we want to finish higher, but I thought they did a phenomenal job."

One day after placing second in the 10K, Parlette backed up that performance by finishing third in the 5K with the time of 18:14.43.

"It was a great double for Jenna," said Combs. "After running 25 laps in the 10K yesterday, she came back with her season-best by 13 seconds."

For the second time this season, Bolen established a new outdoor school record in the shot put. On her fourth attempt, she had a toss of 43-05.00 – which at the time was the best distance. However, it didn't hold up through the final two throws.
