Three records broken, tied at Bellarmine

LOUISVILLE, KY – Three records were broken or tied by Wilmington College track athletes as the Quakers competed in the Bellarmine Invitational. In a meet flooded with scholarship athletes, Wilmington turned in some outstanding performances.

Sophomore Jenna Parlette (Miamisburg, OH/Miamisburg) established a new meet and stadium record in the 10,000 meter run, completing the distance in 38:03.60. Senior Brittany Gibbons (Pleasant Plain, OH/Blanchester) was fifth in the time of 41:43.30.

Those were the only two top five finishes for the Lady Quakers.

Junior Christian Patterson (Cincinnati, OH/Norwood) tied his school record in winning the high jump with a jump of 6-11.00. After missing on his first attempt, Patterson cleared the distance on his second try.

Senior Mason Metts (Pomeroy, OH/Meigs) established a new school record in the hammer throw with a distance of 188-05. He set the mark on his sixth and final attempt to finish fourth. Two more athletes nearly joined the trio as freshman Jeremy Duncan (Cincinnati, OH/Archbishop Moeller) and juniorAlek Erwin (Springfield, OH/Northeastern) barely missed new marks in their respective events.

Duncan finished seventh in the 100 meter dash in 10.92, while Erwin was eighth in the 1,500 with the time of 3:59.68.
