Patterson wins high jump

DELAWARE – Junior Christian Patterson won an event and senior Mason Metts established a new school record as the Wilmington College track teams competed in the All-Ohio outdoor meet at Ohio Wesleyan Saturday.


Patterson (Cincinnati, OH/Norwood) passed on the first four distances, and then cleared the next three attempts – including the winning height of 6-08.00 – without a miss. It was the fourth win in four outdoor meets for Patterson. Metts (Pomeroy, OH/Meigs) finished second in the shot put in setting the school outdoor record in the event with a toss of 54-01-.25. He added a fifth place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 175-01.

Freshman Leevi Stump (Mount Vernon, OH/Mount Vernon) recorded two second-place finishes for the Quakers. He jumped 22-01.50 in the long jump and 43-09.75 in the triple jump. Sophomore Tyler Caudill(Jamestown, OH/Greeneview) also recorded two top-10 finishes, placing third in the 400-meter hurdles and fifth in the 110 hurdles.

In all, Wilmington recorded 10 top-10 finishes – Derek Kilgo (Charlotte, NC/North Royalton) was eighth in the 100, Jake Sydnor (Batavia, OH/Clermont Northeastern) was eighth in the 200 and Alek Erwin (Springfield, OH/Northeastern) was sixth in the 1500.
