Men's tennis falls in opener

MARIETTA – The Wilmington College men's tennis team opened the 2013 season with a 9-0 loss to Marietta in Ohio Athletic Conference action.

Senior Connor LaVelle (Athens, OH/Athens) had the best match of the day, falling in second singles, 6-3, 6-3. Sophomore Justin Arehart (Wilmington, OH/Wilmington) lost, 6-1, 6-1, in first singles, while sophomore Cullen Corcoran (Wilmington, OH/Clinton-Massie) also fell, 6-1, 6-1, in fourth singles.

Seniors Josh Kincaid (Loveland, OH/Goshen) and Jesse Ingles (Morrow, OH/Little Miami) both lost in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, in third and fifth singles, respectively. Freshman Ron Sansone fell in sixth singles, 6-0, 6-1.

Kincaid/Arehart lost in first doubles, 8-3; Lavalle/Corcoran lost in second doubles, 8-0 and Ingles/Sansone fell in third doubles, 8-1.

Wilmington plays Bethany 3 p.m. Thursday and Thomas More 5 p.m. Thursday in non-conference action.
