Holmquist named All-Ohio

Junior Martin Holmquist was named to second team All-Ohio team, the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association announced today (January 8, 2014).

"Martin is an outstanding player and has a very strong presence on the field," said Wilmington head coach Bud Lewis. "His strength and size coupled with his very good technical ability to gain and maintain possession of the ball are very important to our team's defensive success. His leadership on the field and initiating our attacking play are key pieces to how we play. As the Defensive POY in the OAC he is certainly deserving of this recognition from the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association."

Holmquist (Karlstad, Sweded/Alvkulle Gymnasiet) is a two-time first-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection. In addition, he was just the second Wilmington men's soccer player to earn Defender of the Year in the OAC. He spearheaded a WC defense that registered four shutouts. In addition, he added two goals and one assist.

Wilmington finished the season 6-12-2.
