Tornberg, Hornnaess lead WC to victory

NEW CONCORD, OH – Freshman Markus Tornberg scored his first two collegiate goals  as the Wilmington men's soccer team opened Ohio Athletic Conference action with a 4-0 victory over Muskingum.

"The first 20 minutes may have been the best we have played this year building a 2-0 lead and putting our opponent under pressure with a number of shots and scoring opportunities," said head coach Bud Lewis.

Sophomore Nick Toney got the Fightin' Quakers on the board early, scoring in the 10th minute on an unassisted goal.

Senior Henrik Hornnaess had a hand on Wilmington's next three goals. After scoring in the 15th minute, he assisted on both second half goals. He came into the game with one goal and one assist. Tornberg tallied both second half goals.

Junior Daniel Wicks paired with Hornnaess for the assist on Tornberg's first goal.

Senior Anton Niklasson recorded five saves in earning his second shutout of the season.

Wilmington (4-7-1 overall, 1-0 OAC) hosts Heidelberg 7 p.m. Wednesday at Charlie Gilhart Field.
