Dan Moriarty

Dan Moriarty began his tenure as the head men's lacrosse coach at Wilmington College in December of 2023, and he will be entering his first season with the Quakers in 2024.

Moriarty comes to Wilmington from NCAA Division I institution Central Michigan University, where he was an assistant coach for their women's lacrosse program during the summer of 2023. He helped with the programs budgeting, recruiting, scheduling, practice planning, and player development.

Before his time at Central Michigan, Moriarty spent the 2023 season as the head coach of NCAA Division III institution Marian University in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. While at Marian, he improved the team from a 5-11 overall record in 2022 to a 9-7 record in 2023. This was the second most wins in program history for a single season. Moriarty had three players earn All-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) honors.

He spent the 2019, 2020, and 2021 seasons as the offensive coordinator and an assistant coach with the Western Connecticut State University Wolves of the Little East Conference in Danbury, Connecticut. In these three seasons the team compiled an overall record of 21-11 and was second in the conference in goals scored all three years. While at WestConn, he assisted in recruiting and conducting academic meetings and study halls for the student athletes.

In 2018, Moriarty made his head coaching debut for the University of Southern California Trojans in Division I of the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA). The team competed in the Southwestern Lacrosse Conference (SLC) and finished with an overall record of 8-6. During that season, the Trojans earned their first ever wins over Top-25 programs in Oregon State University (#24) and UC Santa Barbara (#14). He led four players to All-Conference honors as Peter Hollen was named First Team All-Conference as a long stick midfielder (LSM). Hollen was also the conference Defensive Player of the Year and a Second Team All-American LSM.

Moriarty was the offensive coordinator and an assistant coach at NCAA Division III Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas for the 2017 season. The Pirates finished 9-7 that year and were seventh in Division III in assists per game (10.25), 10th in points per game (25.50), and eighth in shot percentage (.354). Moriarty helped recruit 12 players to Southwestern for the following school year (2017-18) after the program had seven in the previous class (2016-17).

He made his first coaching stop at NCAA Division II Alderson Broaddus University during the 2015 and 2016 seasons as the offensive coordinator and an assistant coach. Moriarty and the staff helped get the program off the ground, doubling the roster from 24 in 2014 to 48 in 2016. The team went 9-19 over his two seasons as an assistant with the Battlers after the team went 0-27 during their first two seasons as a program.

Moriarty played collegiate lacrosse at Herkimer County Community College in Herkimer, New York during the 2010-11 school year, where he was named the 2011 Mountain Valley Conference Player of the Year, First Team All-Region 3 NJCAA, and a NJCAA All-American nominee.

He then made his way to NCAA Division II powerhouse Adelphi University in Garden City, New York for his final three years, where he was a member of back-to-back final four teams in 2013 and 2014. While at Adelphi, he received the D2ADA Academic Achievement Award.
