Dearth scores twice, assists on another in loss

GREENVILLE, PA – Kirby Dearth (Hilliard, OH/Darby) scored two goals with one assist as the Wilmington men's lacrosse team fell to Thiel Saturday, 17-4, in non-conference action.

The Quakers appeared to make it a close contest through the early part of the first half until the 8:32 mark of the second quarter. It was at this point where Thiel was able to bury four unanswered goals in less than two minutes of play midway thru the quarter. The scoring run distanced the two squads going in to the half with Thiel securing a 9-3 lead. The flurry of goals Thiel put away in the second quarter proved to be a devastating blow to the Quakers as Wilmington never found their way back in to game.

Thiel solidified the win scoring the last seven goals of the contest pushing their lead to a convincing 17-4 conclusion this afternoon. The Quakers had their lowest scoring output of the season in the second half only scoring once and going scoreless in the final quarter of play.

Alex Gossard (Galloway, OH/Hilliard Bradley) and Corey Stevens (Franklin, OH/Springboro) each added a goal in the loss.

The Quakers return to action this 7 p.m. Wednesday when they host Mount St. Joseph
