OAC Tournament Preview: Baldwin Wallace

Regardless of their opponent in the second round game of the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament, the Wilmington College men's basketball team knew they would be playing a quality opponent.

Whether it is the preseason favorite or last season's regular season champions, the Fightin' Quakers would be hosting a team with championship pedigree. Well, WC gets the former as Baldwin Wallace will come strolling into Fred Raizk Arena at Hermann Court 7:30 p.m. Tuesday after beating Capital 78-68 Monday.

In the win over Capital, four different players reached double figures. Senior guard Kevin Krakowiak led the way with 25 points, while junior point guard Jaron Crowe added 16 points and four assists. Junior Matt Dennis recorded 14 and senior guard Grant Fairhurt tallied 10.

"We have to be more solid," said Wilmington head coach K.C. Hunt. "We gambled too much and didn't rebound great, so we will have to be a better basketball team this time around."

The last time the two teams met, Baldwin Wallace escaped Raizk Arena with 65-61 victory in which Krakowiak scored a game-high 29 points. He was the only BW player to reach double figures in the game.

Wilmington won the first meeting 87-74 in Berea on December 16.

On the season, Krakowiak and senior Kyle Payne are averaging 16.2 points each, but Payne has been hampered by an injury and didn't play in Monday's victory. Payne is also second on the team in rebounding with 6.1 boards.

Crowe is the proverbial straw that stirs the offensive drink for the Yellow Jackets. His 152 assists are nearly half of the team total, and he is also third on the team with 15.4 points.
