Thrice as nice: Heard earns OAC weekly honors

AUSTINTOWN – Senior Malcolm Heard II continues to earn weekly honors from the Ohio Athletic Conference as for the third time this season, and the sixth time in his career, he was named Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced today (February 24, 2014).

Heard (Wilmington, OH/Wilmington) helped Wilmington secure the third seed in the OAC tournament with a 26-point, 10-rebound effort against Mount Union Saturday. For the week, he averaged 21.5 points and 9.5 rebounds.

"Malcolm had another great week," said Wilmington head coach K.C. Hunt. "He continues to be a dominant force in our league on both ends of the floor."

For the season, the forward leads the conference in scoring (18.4 points) and rebounding (8.0).

Wilmington kicks off their OAC tournament run 7:30 p.m. Tuesday against the winner of Monday's Capital/Baldwin Wallace game.
