Heard named OAC Player of the Week

Wilmington College senior Malcolm Heard II has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference men's basketball Player of the Week, the league announced today (January 13). Due to the holiday, the period for the award was from December 23 through January 11.

Heard (Wilmington, OH/Wilmington) helped Wilmington go 3-0 during the time frame, leading the team with 17.7 points and 9.7 rebounds. He recorded two double-doubles in three games with wins over Heidelberg (23 points, 11 rebounds) and John Carroll (15 points, 11 rebounds).

"Malcolm had a great break leading us to a 3-0 record," said Wilmington head coach K.C. Hunt. "I thought he was exceptional good on the glass which was a key to our success."

It's the first time this season, and fourth time in his career, Heard has earned the league's weekly distinction. He is the second men's basketball player this season to earn the award joining junior R.J. Leppert.

Wilmington (8-4 overall, 5-1 OAC) returns to the hardwood 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, hosting Otterbein in Ohio Athletic Conference action at Fred Raizk Arena in Hermann Court.
