MEN'S PREVIEW: Capital

MEN'S PREVIEW: Capital

For the first time in more than a month, the Wilmington College men's basketball team will be able to compete in front of the home fans as they host Capital 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Ohio Athletic Conference action at Fred Raizk Arena in Hermann Court.

Despite coming into the game with a losing record, the Capital is a very skilled opponent.

"They have played an extremely tough schedule against some of the better teams in the country," said Wilmington head coach K.C. Hunt. "I am not concerned with their record. What I am watching on tape is a really good basketball team. They are big, strong and run their stuff. They're younger than they have been, but they are a talented basketball team. We are going to have to play well to win."

The Crusaders (4-6 overall, 1-2 OAC) are coming off a 76-58 victory over Piedmont, which snapped a four-game losing streak. Freshman guard Tyrel Jackson led the team with 14 points as all five starters reached double figures.

Sophomore guard AJ Dixon is leading the team in scoring with 14.6 points per game, while shooting 41.5 percent from the first. More than half of his shots have been from beyong the arc, and he is leding the team with 60 free throw attempts. Dixon is shooting 78.3 percent (47-of-60) from the charity stripe. He is also second on the team with 27 assists.

Junior forward Andrew Bolka leads the team and is tied for third in the Ohio Athletic Conference with 6.8 rebounds per game. His 10.8 points is good for second on the team. He is also the only Capital player to start in all 10 games as eight different players has earned a start this season. Junior Michael Green adds 10.3 points per contest.

The Fightin' Quakers believe that have a handle on what CU wants to do.

"They have played a lot of zone this year," said Hunt. "We are going to have to be prepared for multiple defenses. It's going to be about us recognizing defenses and being in attack mode. On defense, we are going have to do a good job, containing (Bolka) and defending the high-low."
