Matthew Ramirez

Matthew Ramirez enters his first season as a graduate assistant football coach at Wilmington College in 2023. He will coach the Quaker cornerbacks as well as serve as special teams quality control.

Ramirez comes to Wilmington from the Pacific Northwest having been defensive backs coach for Stanwood High School in Washington for the past two seasons. There, he was responsible for the development of safeties, nickles and defensive backs while also assisting the offensive staff in breaking down opposing passing attacks.

Stanwood qualified for the state playoffs in both of Ramirez' years on staff. The 16 victories for Stanwood were more than the program had achieved the previous five seasons. The defensive backs earned eight All-League honors with three of those going on to garner All-League selections.

Prior to Stanwood, Ramirez worked for the campaign of United States Senator Tina Smith in St. Paul, Minnesota. His primary duties included managing digital marketing campaigns and social media as well as organizing in-person events targeted at Latino voting communities in Minnesota.

Ramirez resides in Wilmington.
