Duncan, Starckey named to preseason lists

The preseason honors have started to roll in for the Wilmington College football team as two juniors have landed spots on various teams.

"I think it is nice to get any recognition when it comes to your football play," said Wilmington head coach Stacey Hairston. "Being named to the preseason lists are very deserved and will probably motivate both of them to make sure they perform well throughout the season to confirm that it was a just nomination."

Junior Jeremy Duncan (Cincinnati, OH/Archbishop Moeller) was named third-team preseason All-American by Beyond Sports Network. He was also named to the USA Football Preseason All-America "Watch List".

Duncan, who led the Ohio Athletic Conference with 118.4 yards per game, earned Beyond Sports All-America last season.  The OAC named Duncan as its Ed Sherman Receiver of the Year. He was also first-team All-North Region by D3football.com. The 6-5 pass catcher set a Wilmington and OAC record with 327 yards receiving against Muskingum.

Junior Tarrell Starckey (Richmond, VA/Highland Springs) also earned a spot on the USA Football Preseason "Watch List".

In his first season at Wilmington, Starckey led the league with 126 tackles and was seventh with 10.5 tackles for loss en route to earning first-team All-OAC.

The Fightin' Quakers report to camp on August 13 and opens the season 1 p.m. September 6 at Olivet.
