WC hosts Yellow Jackets under the lights

Coming off its first shutout loss of the season, the Wilmington College football team hosts Baldwin Wallace 6 p.m. Saturday.

The Yellow Jackets come into the game at 3-2 overall, 2-2 in the OAC. BW leads the overall series 11-3.

The game pits strength versus strength as the Wilmington front seven has done an admiral job of slowing down opposing running attacks, while Baldwin Wallace has multiple options in the run game.

Junior quarterback Michael Slack leads the team with 290 yards on 51 carries, but it's the return of senior Josiah Holt that has boosted the BW attack. Listed as a receiver, Holt rushed for a career-high 184 yards on 15 attempts against Ohio Northern. Holt, a two-time All-OAC receiver, leads the team with over 10 yards per carry.

Despite missing the first three games this season with an injury, Holt ranks second in receiving with 12 catches for 116 yards and third in rushing with 223 yards in 22 rushes and three TD's. All-American sprinter Kevin Johnson is the team's leading receiver.

The Fightin' Quakers will need to find a way to get sophomore Jeremy Duncan back involved in the offense. A week after hauling in an OAC record 327 yards receiving, he was held to one catch for 13 yards. As teams focus much of their attention on slowing down Duncan, seniors Kyle Akers and Antonio Turner will have to step up and make some plays.

Defensively, Wilmington is led by sophomore transfer Tarrell Starckey, who has a team-high 58 tackles and is tied for the team-lead with seven tackles for loss. Senior Aaron Day is second on the team with 33 tackles and seven tackles for loss.
