Wilmington College Director of Athletic Dr. Terry Rupert announced today (May 8, 2013) that he has accepted the resignation of head baseball coach Tony Haley, effective immediately. Haley resigned to focus on his retirement, traveling and spending time with his family.

"Tony is an outstanding person and coach, and we greatly appreciate the 13 years of service he has given to this college and our baseball program," said Rupert.

Haley won 191 games in his career, including a stretch in which the Quakers were above .500 in five consecutive seasons. He earned OAC Coach-of-the-Year honors in 2005 after leading Wilmington to a 22-15 record and the team's only OAC Tournament appearance. In 2003, Haley led the Quakers to a 24-14 record. The .632 winning percentage ranked third on the school's all-time single season list and the 24 wins are the highest total in Haley's tenure.

Wilmington finished the 2013 season 5-32 overall, 1-17 in the OAC.

The search for a new baseball coach begins immediately.
