18 named Academic All-OAC

AUSTINTOWN - The Ohio Athletic Conference has announced the selection of Academic All-OAC team for the fall 2013, and Wilmington College had 18 student-athletes were honored.

The conference honors all varsity student-athletes with at least sophomore status and at least a 3.5 grade point average (GPA).

Two student-athletes - men's cross country runner Jacob Boehm (Blanchester, OH/McNicholas) and women's cross country runner Anna Benton (Xenia, OH/Dominion Academy) - have perfect 4.0 GPAs.

The women's soccer team led the Wilmington contigent with six student-athletes. Senior Bonnie Grace (3.96, Education; Cincinnati, OH/Wyoming) posted the highest GPA on the team. She was joined by juniors Camille Gentile (3.59, Biology; Brownsburg, IN/Brownsburg ), Lauren Hamrock (3.75, Biology; Beavercreek, OH/Beavercreek), Angela Phillips (3.65, Education; Union, OH/Northmont), Caroline Guindon (3.71, Athletic Training; Barnesville, OH/St. Clairsville ) and sophomore Erika Good (3.50, Athletic Training; Miamisburg, OH/Miamisburg).

The women's cross country team, led by Benton, had four student-athletes named Academic All-OAC. The other three honorees were juniors Tricia Steffen (3.94, Sport Management; Baltimore, OH/Liberty Union) and Sarah Murphy (3.82, Biology; West Liberty, OH/West Liberty-Salem), along with sophomore Mary Krebs (3.84, Education; Kettering, OH/Alter).

Three juniors volleyball student-athletes - Tabby Biegler (3.59, Sport Management; Columbus, OH/Briggs), Emily Regan (3.89, Education; Columbus, OH/Briggs), and Natalie Sparks (3.63, Agriculture; West Jefferson, OH/West Jefferson) - were honored.

Senior Brandon Arehart (3.97, Biology; Wilmington, OH/Wilmington), senior Kyle Akers (3.65, Business Administration; Sabina, OH/East Clinton), junior Scott Duncan (3.55, business; Liberty Twp., OH/Lakota East) and junior Jeremy McCoy (3.55, Agriculture; Santa Paula, CA/Santa Paula) were three football players named Academic All-OAC, while the men's cross country had two honorees - Boehm and junior Brad Hamilton (3.77, Athletic Training; Ripley, OH/Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington).
