Timothy (Tim) O'Brien enters his fourth year as head volleyball coach at Wilmington College for the 2018-19 academic year. He also serves as assistant director of athletic communications covering WC's equestrian and men's lacrosse programs.

O'Brien, the first full-time head volleyball coach in the College's history, has improved his win-loss record during each of his first three seasons leading the Fightin' Quakers. He mentored Becca Harting for three years, who graduated with the third-most digs (687) in program history. He also coaches at the high school level at Carroll High School in Dayton. The 2008 Carroll alumnus coaches the boys' volleyball team along with other club teams in the greater Dayton area.

O’Brien comes to Wilmington from Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan, where he served as the assistant women’s volleyball coach for the 2013 season.  O’Brien served as the programs recruiting coordinator and helped lead the Bulldogs team to a 12-17 finish.

Prior to Adrian College, O’Brien spent seven years at Siena Heights University including four as a student-athlete for Head Coach Mike Watkins. O’Brien ranks in seven different career and season categories for statistics in the Siena Heights record books, highlighted by being first all-time in career assist percentage at .513 and ranking second all-time for a season assist percentage in 2012 at .588. He went on to serve as a graduate assistant coach for the Saints' women's volleyblall program and helped achieve a 17-11 record in 2012, the program's first winning season on over a decade.

O'Brien spent one year coach the men's volleyball team at Alderson Broaddus University (West Virginia) in 2014 as well as one-year stints coaching girls' volleyball at Clinton High School (Michigan) in 2013 and Britton-Deerfield High School (Michigan) in 2011.

He graduated from Siena Heights in 2012 with a degree in chemistry. O'Brien and his wife, Jessie, reside in Beavercreek.
