Women's Swimming Moves Up a Spot On Sunday, Finishes Corbiere-Merion Invitational in Third

FINAL RESULTS

DELAWARE, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's swimming team finished the Corbiere-Merion Invitational in third place as events on the two-day invitational wrapped up on Sunday afternoon.

The Quakers, who moved up a spot after being in fourth at the conclusion of Saturday's events, finished with 580 points, edging West Virginia Wesleyan College by nine points. Davis & Elkins College won the invitational with 1,031 points while host Ohio Wesleyan University was second with 923 points.

In individual events, the Quaker duo of Sydney Overmyer and Audrey Bibb finished a tenth of second from each other in the 50-yard freestyle as Overmyer placed fifth (27.12 seconds) and Bibb sixth (27.13 seconds). Alayna Fierman also had a fifth-place swim with a time of 5:22.55 in the 400-yard IM. In the 1,650-yard freestyle, Adrienne Reynek (22:13.44) and Shannon O'Boyle (22:57.05) took sixth and seventh place respectively.

in relays, two Wilmington teams earned top-six placements in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Bibb, Makenna Garn, Sierra Szuhay and Overmyer finished fourth with a time of 1:48.93 while Anna Endsley, Fierman, Symone Daniels and Abbigail Whitesell touched the wall in 1:55.89 for a sixth-place finish.

 

"This team's hard work is paying off as we had many in-season and lifetime best performances," Head Coach Trip Breen said. "This meet was a great experience. It is always fun watching the team come together, swim fast and have fun!"

Wilmington will head south for its annual training trip to Florida over the break and return to competition against The University of Mount Union on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023.
