Women's Swimming in Fourth After Day One of Corbiere-Merion Invitational

DELAWARE, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's swimming teams is in fourth place after day one of the Corbiere-Merion Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday.

As a team, the Quakers put up 354 points and are within striking distance of West Virginia Wesleyan College's 411 points. The host Battling Bishops are in second with 550.5 points while Davis & Elkins College leads the way with 724.5 points.

Wilmington began the event with a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay as Sierra Szuhay, Makenna Garn, Sydney Overmyer and Audrey Bibb finished with a time of 2:01.94. In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Overmyer and Szuhay teamed up with Anna Endsley and Audrey Bibb to touch the wall in fifth place (4:05.08).

Individually, Garn took fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a mark of 1:14.86 while Szuhay (1:05.66) and Overmyer (1:08.53) were sixth and eighth respectively in the 100-yard backstroke. Szuhay finished sixth (2:27.65) in the 200-yard IM and was two seconds off of a runner-up placement while also earned a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (2:24.03).

 

The final day of the invitational gets underway at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
