WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College softball team will play at home for four games this weekend including an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) series against Marietta College on Saturday followed by a non-conference doubleheader with Oberlin College on Sunday. Competition on both days is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington, Marietta and Oberlin. The Fightin' Quakers are 15-9 overall and 3-7 in OAC play after splitting a doubleheader with Otterbein University on Wednesday. The Pioneers are 17-11 overall and bring a conference record into the weekend after splitting with the University of Mount Union on Wednesday. The Yeowomen are 9-15 on the season and play OAC member John Carroll University on Thursday.

The Coaches: Beth Floyd is in her 12th season as Wilmington's softball head coach. She is the winningest softball coach in school history and is also the College's associate director of athletics. Floyd has led the Quakers to seven double-digit win campaigns as well as the program's first winning season with a 20-16 record in 2013. Jenn Castle, after spending eight seasons as Marietta's top assistant, is in her first season as the Pioneers' head coach while Sara Schoenhoft is in her fourth season at Oberlin.

The Hitters: Hayley Suchland leads Wilmington in batting average as the freshman hits a .410 clip as well as leading the squad in hits with 32 and stolen bases with eight. KenDahl Bowles, Alecia Kemp and Allison Pierce have all driven in 14 or more runs. Pierce leads the team with eight doubles while Kemp has hit two home runs. Kayla Anderson and Jordan Pallay both hit over a .350 clip for Marietta including a pair of home runs for each while Cat Moruzzi leads Oberlin with a .476 batting average, 40 hits, nine doubles and three triples.

The Pitchers: Grace Shell and Alexis Stringfellow have been Wilmington's one-two punch this season as both have won at least six games and have ERAs under 3.00. Shell has a team-high 74 innings pitched to go along with 60 strikeouts while Stringfellow, who earned a complete-game victory against Otterbein on Wednesday, has a 2.98 ERA in 42.1 innings pitched. Maddi Liston has a 7-4 record and a 2.72 ERA in 64.1 innings for Marietta while both Emily Tucci and Hannah Rasmussen have pitched over 100 innings combined for Oberlin.
