Men's Cross Country Travels to Michigan for Great Lakes Regional Championship

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's cross country team heads to Holland, Michigan to race the Great Lakes Cross Country Regional Championships. Hope College will be the hosts as the field will compete at Three Fires Golf Club.

The Quaker men entered this season with an 8th-place preseason regional ranking and have climbed the totem pole throughout the season. The team currently sits ranked 4th-place in the region and 26th in the nation in Division III.           

The Race: The men's 8,000-meter race will begin at noon.

The Teams: The Quakers will face the entirety of the Great Lakes Region. 

The Coach: Ron Combs enters his 27th season as head cross country coach at Wilmington College. A 1993 graduate of Wilmington, Combs was a member of the only cross country team to win a conference title in school history. Also the head track & field coach at the College, Combs led the Fightin' Quakers to two top-10 finishes nationally with a sixth place finish at the 2002 NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships and a seventh place mark at the 2004 Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The Squad: The Quaker Quartet is coming off of a blistering performance at the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Championships giving the Quakers its highest OAC finish of all time with a third-place finish. Simon Heys leads the pack as he finished third-place in the OAC and was named first-team all OAC. Noah Tobin and George Rickett have been on a tear this season as they also claimed first team all OAC with top ten finishes. Rounding it out for the squad, Eric Reynolds grabbed 20th-place and a second team all OAC finish.
