AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The Wilmington College men's basketball team placed four individuals on the All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) men's basketball teams that were announced on Friday.
DaeShawn Jackson earned First Team All-OAC honors, Kevin Lewis earned a spot on the All-OAC Second team and Will Patrick garnered Honorable Mention All-OAC recognition. Finally, Head Coach K.C. Hunt was named OAC Coach of the Year.
Jackson, a junior who is in his first year with the program, led the Fightin' Quakers in scoring at 14.7 points per game. He scored in double figures 17 times including a career-high 28 points in an 89-81 win at Heidelberg University on Dec. 1. He also averaged 3.6 rebounds per game while dishing out six assists in a loss to the University of Mount Union on Dec. 8.
Lewis, who scored as many points in his senior season as the previous three combined, finished second on the team in scoring at 14.1 points per game along with leading Wilmington in rebounding at 5.9 boards per contest. He was also won of the top players in the OAC in steals per game at 1.8 per game. Lewis scored in double figures in 17 games including cross the 20-point plateau seven times.
Patrick was the other Quaker to score in double figures this season as the senior scored 13.4 points per game. He scored in double figures in 20-of-25 games including the last 14 games. Patrick poured in a career-high 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the field and 7-of-12 from distance in the regular season finale at John Carroll University on Feb. 16.
Hunt aided a remarkable turnaround as Wilmington was picked to finish ninth in the conference in the OAC preaseason coaches poll. Currently, he is the second winningest coach in program history.
This marks the first time since 2014-15 that a Wilmington individual (R.J. Leppart) has earned First Team All-OAC honors. Additionally, 2018-19 is the first year the Quakers have had three players garner All-OAC recognition since the 2009-10 season.
Wilmington concludes its 2018-19 campaign with a 17-8 overall record and a 13-5 mark in conference play. Both are program-best marks in the last five seasons.
