SERIES HISTORY

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College football team heads to John Carroll University for an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) on Saturday. Kickoff from Don Shula Stadium is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and John Carroll (JCU). The Fightin' Quakers are 1-6 on the season and 1-5 in OAC after falling at Baldwin Wallace University on Saturday. The Blue Streaks have the opposite record, 6-1 overall and 5-1 in conference play, after defeating Marietta College 23-21.

The Coaches: Bryan Moore, a 1999 graduate of Hiram College, begins his third season leading Wilmington's football program. Moore began instilling his vision on the program having brought in two large freshman classes. He has three victories over Earlham College and snapped a 40-game OAC losing streak by defeating Capital University in his first season. More recently, the Quakers defeating Ohio Northern for the first time since 1956 on Sept. 21. Previously, Moore spent time at both Bluffton University and Heidelberg. Rick Finotti is in his third season as JCU's head coach. Finotti, who led Blue Streaks to the NCAA Division III playoffs last season, spent two years on Jim Harbaugh's staff at the University of Michigan prior to his arrive in University Heights.

The Offense: Kyle Barrett leads Wilmington offensively as he throws for nearly 270 yards per game to go along with a dozen touchdown tosses. The Quakers have a trio of explosive wide receivers including Itika Wynn Jr. and Ace Taylor who have combined for 99 receptions thus far this season. Wynn Jr. averages 109.3 yards per game to go along with seven touchdowns while Luke Richardson averages 28 yards per reception on his 19 catches. Gino Hinton Jr. leads the rushing attack with 301 total yards. Jake Floriea is JCU's quarterback and he averages over 180 yards per game through the air. Evan Nugent and Joe Torok both have over 300 yards receving while Michael Canganelli averages over 87 yards on the ground for the Blue Streaks.

The Defense: Tavion Bryant and Ameer Jackson both have at least 70 tackles for Wilmington including Bryant's team-best nine tackles for loss. Tre'Quez Parks is the other leading Quaker tackles with 68 tackles and two sacks. Chad Stalnaker is JCU's leading tackler with 69 total tackles and 26 of those being the solo variety. Tyler Frederick and Conner Bogard both have 42 tackles while Tyshawn Jones has two interceptions.

Tale of the Tape: Points per game – Wilmington 18.7, JCU 33.9, points per game allowed – Wilmington 43.0, JCU 13.1, yards per game – Wilmington 340.9, JCU 370.1, yards per game allowed – Wilmington 455.7, JCU 244.4, passing yards per game – Wilmington 268.9, JCU 184.4, passing yards per game allowed – Wilmington 221.9, JCU 162.4, rushing yards per game – Wilmington 72.0., JCU 185.7, rushing yards per game allowed – Wilmington 233.9, JCU 82.3.
